National Train Day - May 10th, 2008
Apr 19th, 2008 by Patty
National Train Day is being celebrated across the country on Saturday, May 10th. It was on this date in 1869 that the”golden spike” was driven into the final tie at Promontory Summit, Utah, ceremonially creating the nations first transcontinental railroad. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has reason to celebrate, not only is our company’s Visitor Center located inside our communities beautifully restored 1875 Train Station, we are also Amtrak’s official coffee service from coast to coast! Stop by on Saturday May 10th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and enjoy live sing-a-long music, family fun and games and lots of Train stories. Amtrak’s Vermonter will be here at 9:26AM, so put on your conductors hat and give them a whistle and a wave as they make their stop in Waterbury! For more information, please contact GMCR Visitor Center at (802)882-2700.
